Popping Tips

Popcorn made over fire is the true original!

  • Medium-low heat tends to work best, as well as using a heavy pan, though most types of pots & pans will work.
  • You may need to watch the heat on an electric stove (medium to medium-high) a little more carefully.
  • It should take about 3 minutes before popping starts. If popping is not starting within 5 minutes you may need to turn up the heat.
  • Shaking the pot throughout the process helps with even popping!
  • If you're using our microwave bags, make sure to seal the top using tape or the included stickers
  • Even if your microwave has a popcorn setting, we recommend starting it on high and pulling out the popcorn once popping has slowed to 3-5 seconds between pops.
  • If using a bowl and lid to pop, make sure both are microwave-safe and be carfeul when pulling them out of the microwave as they may be hot.

We use cacao butter for our cobs because it's a great source of healthy fat. It also has a distinct nutty aroma, which may be surprising the first time you pop a cob!

We want to make sure every kernel in your cob pops perfectly. If you have still have unpopped kernels once popping has finished try raising your heat slightly and shaking the pot often for even heating.

Give your pot a shake as the cob melts to speed up the process. If popping is still taking too long, try turning up your heat a little.

Oh no! We're sorry your popcorn burnt. Try using slightly lower heat next time and make sure to take your popcorn off the stove when there are 3 seconds or more between pops.
